The Beginning of My Journey with Amani Wisdom
Our first time in Kenya – August 3, 2021
On August 3rd, 2021, I traveled to Kenya — and to Africa — for the very first time, together with my son, William Forslund.
William had visited Kenya once before when he was just eleven years old. He was a contestant on a Swedish TV show called Wild Kids, and his team, the Bears, won the competition. Their prize was a one-week journey to the Maasai Mara in Kenya.
When I picked him up at the airport after his trip, he had tears in his eyes. I asked him what was wrong, and he said,
“In Africa, they smile with their eyes, Mama. They don’t do that here.”
He was heartbroken to leave. I looked at him and said, “When you’re grown up, William, we’ll go back.”
So, to return with him — now 25 years old — to a place that had touched his soul as a child, was something very special. For him, it was a return. For me, it was a first time — and yet it felt deeply familiar.
Just a few weeks earlier, I had said yes to buying a piece of land in a country I had never even been to. My heart and soul had spoken so clearly — I just had to go there, to feel my “yes” in my body, to see with my own eyes.
And when I landed in Kenya, when I saw the land, the beach, and met the local people, I knew deep inside that my decision had been right. Something inside me just clicked.
That was the beginning of this whole journey — the seed of what would later become Amani Wisdom.
I had no idea at the time what was waiting for me, but the soul knews and i have to found the courage and say yes.
And that yes completle changed everything.
Welcome to follow the rest of the story — how Amani was built, the magic that unfolded, and how this dream slowly became a reality.
