Building My Dream House in Kenya

One Coral Stone at a Time

It wasn’t until November 2023 that the actual construction of the house began. First, the foundation had to be laid – and it took two full years from the moment I bought the land until we could finally begin. The journey there was filled with paperwork, permits, and waiting. But deep down, I knew this was part of the process.

The entire house is being built with coral stone, found naturally in the Kenyan soil. Every single piece has been carved and laid by hand – no machines, just skilled hands, patience, and craftsmanship. It’s both humbling and awe-inspiring to witness how something so solid and beautiful can grow from the earth, slowly, gently, intentionally.

Watching the house rise – stone by stone – has been like watching a dream take physical form. It moves slowly. Pole pole, as they say in Swahili. Slowly, slowly. But there is wisdom in that pace. It teaches you trust, presence and gratitude.
